FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Tool for Battling the Blaze Crestline, CA -
December, 12 2005 - Firefighting
is a tough job! Launching a Direct Attack on a fire usually includes applying a
thick blanket of Class A Foam in an effort to suppress it. For burning or
ready-to-burn materials, Class A foam provides a barrier that cools, penetrates
and separates oxygen from the fuel source. Now these same fire retarding
qualities can last for hours, instead of minutes, making it a viable tool for
Indirect Attack.
After years of research, a new tool for Indirect Attack and Structure Protection has been unveiled. The product is called “DuraFoam”. It works with all makes of Class A Foam, giving them the same long-lasting ability found in gels. This means that your current Class A Foam can last for hours instead of mere minutes. Class A foam can now be applied far in advance of an on-coming fire, making Class A foam a powerful tool for the firefighter, simply by using this new product called “DuraFoam”.
According to its inventor, Brent Gagermeier; DuraFoam is not intended to replace current Class A foam, instead it provides an inexpensive way to enhance the retardant properties of existing foams by extending the effective duration and increasing the weight of the foam structure. This makes it less susceptible to the effects of wind. Having a versatile, effective and affordable product were the development goals, but it was the safety of our firefighter and the structures they treat that were the foundation of the research. Unlike other products, DuraFoam will not cause severe skin rashes, pose a threat to the eyes, make paint peel from a structure or curl roofing shingles.
This new technology gives firefighters a useful tool for Structure Protection, Aerial Application, Fire Breaks and even Mop-Up Operations. Regardless of the type of system; aspirated, injection or even CAFS - DuraFoam can transform minutes of protection into hours. Basically, when ever a longer barrier of protection is needed, DuraFoam can make this possible without the financial burden of having to purchase additional equipment. DuraFoam works with your existing equipment.
Technology is finally catching up with the fire industry and this could be the product that the industry has been waiting for... a safe, affordable and effective way to "battle the blaze".
